MEMORIAL DAY 2022

Today, Monday, May 30, 2022, Americans celebrate Memorial Day.

Many will celebrate today as a day off from the normal work grind.

However, digging a little deeper, Memorial Day was originally referred to as, “Decoration Day” and originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official U.S. federal holiday in 1971. There are various numbers attributed to how many service men and women have given their lives in service to our country, but the losses from wars starting with the Civil War and into modern times is well above one million lives lost.

One million military personnel whose legacy is remembered one day each year. Well worth our time to pause, reflect, thank, and pray concerning the sacrifices made by those who died in service to our country.

A debt that can never be repaid, but worthy our time and attention.
