The Jones County Sheriff’s Department announced on May 21 that its administrative offices and training center will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. The department said the Patrol and Corrections Divisions will continue normal operations while all other divisions will remain on-call. Offices are scheduled to reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26.

The closure affects only the administrative and training functions of the department, ensuring that essential law enforcement services remain available during the holiday. Residents who require assistance from other divisions may experience delays but can expect patrol deputies and corrections staff to maintain their regular duties.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office supports public safety and delivers professional law enforcement services to benefit residents, according to the official website. The office operates both adult and juvenile detention facilities within Jones County and employs sworn officers as patrol deputies, investigators, narcotics agents, corrections officers, administrative staff, and reserve deputies. It also maintains ties with agencies such as the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, Mississippi Department of Corrections, and Mississippi Sheriffs’ Association.

According to the official website, the sheriff’s office aims to provide timely law enforcement responses across Jones County in Mississippi while managing local detention facilities.

Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly for any non-emergency needs requiring administrative support until regular office hours resume after Memorial Day.
