Congressman Mike Ezell, representing Mississippi’s 4th district since 2023, shared his thoughts and experiences during National Police Week through a series of tweets. Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi in 1959, Ezell has a background in law enforcement and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1997.

On May 14, 2025, Congressman Ezell announced bipartisan support for his resolution to honor law enforcement during National Police Week. He noted the resolution passed with “411 yes…1 no vote,” pointing out that “Guess @RepRashida didn’t get the ‘back the blue’ memo.”

Later that day, Ezell emphasized the importance of supporting law enforcement beyond mere recognition. In his tweet, he stated “During National Police Week, we do more than honor the badge—we stand up for those who wear it.” As a former sheriff alongside Rep. Rutherford from Florida, he underscored the risks faced by officers and described this week as “not just about gratitude—it’s a call to action.”

On May 15, Ezell reflected on personal connections within law enforcement by mentioning Deputy Bruce Evans. In his post, he shared that “This Police Week, one name carried personal weight: Deputy Bruce Evans,” who was killed in duty in 2000 and was a former partner of his Chief of Staff. This memory serves as a poignant reminder of both camaraderie and loss within the profession.

Mike Ezell continues to advocate for police support while honoring those who have served and sacrificed their lives in law enforcement.
