Djahi Binet was named Sun Belt Player of the Week on February 10, averaging 24 points and 11 rebounds in recent games against Marshall and Kent State. On February 7, Southern Miss contributed to a Sun Belt win over Kent State during the MAC-SBC Challenge with a close victory at home.
Binet also became the first player this season in the Sun Belt Conference to post at least 30 points and 15 rebounds in one game, recording those numbers against Marshall earlier this month. The team limited turnovers to a season-low seven at Coastal Carolina on January 24 and began its conference road schedule with two wins—its best start away from home in league play for over ten seasons.
Weeks recorded his first career double-double against Ole Miss and earned MVP honors at the Pensacola Invitational, where he scored a personal-best 37 points against North Florida. This achievement marked one of the top scoring performances by any Sun Belt player since last season.
