Southern Miss enters this contest after an 85-62 loss to ULM, in which Meloney Thames led her team with 18 points, marking her 20th double-figure scoring game this season. Despite four Lady Eagles scoring in double figures, ULM had five players reach that mark and pulled away with a strong second quarter.
The Lady Eagles have struggled recently, losing seven of their last eight games and posting a 3-9 record since January. While four active players still average double-digit points per game, Southern Miss has allowed opponents to score an average of over 74 points per game this season and nearly 80 over their last dozen contests.
Texas State arrives after defeating South Alabama in Mobile, improving to a 7-6 conference record and holding sixth place in Sun Belt standings.
