Sexual Assault, assault and abuse can happen amongst strangers, friends as well as family members. This is a widespread occurrence in many communities. In the U.S. alone, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 67 men have been raped at some time in their lives and 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 20 boys is sexually abused by the age of seventeen.

The Forrest County Board of Supervisors have a “Sexual Assault Proclamation” on their agenda for Monday, April 4th.

“Through awareness, education and outreach, together we can make a difference in our communities.,” said Sheriff Sims. “We applaud our County Supervisors for their wisdom in recognizing this significant issue in our communities.”
