Lady Crusaders Take Third at NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championship

(RESULTS) The William Carey Women's Indoor Track & Field team totaled 58 points at the NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship to finish in third place.

Salieci Myles started things off for Carey, claiming the National Title in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.20 and breaking the previous record of 8.31 seconds set by Akela Jones of Oklahoma Baptist in 2014. The win also marked the second consecutive year someone from Carey won the 60m hurdles with Joy Abu winning it in 2022. 

Abu finished in eighth with a time of 8.66 and in the 400m dash Abu could not defend her title from a year ago, placing third, with a time of 54.95.  Myles got off to a bad start in the 60m dash placing eighth with a time 7.56.  Abu followed her third place finish in the 400m with another third place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 24.28.

Lina May posted a time of 17:28 in the 5000m to place third with the relay team of Feja Hodges, Maria Simancas, Nevagant Jones, and Abu posting a time of 3:43 in the 4x400m relay to finish in second.  Machaeda Linton finished the day off for the Lady Crusaders with a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.26.
