2019-2020: What were the backgrounds of Greene County students?

Of the 1,755 students enrolled in Greene County schools in 2019-2020, 80% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Greene County students.

This is a 0.7% increase over the previous school year.

Greene County High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Greene County schools showed 80% students were White and 14.7% were Black or African American.

There are five schools in Greene County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
