White had the largest percent of student body in Jones County schools in 2021-2022 school year

Of the 11,341 students enrolled in Jones County schools in 2021-2022, 62.9% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Jones County students.

This is a 15.5% increase over the previous school year.

South Jones High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2021-2022 school year.

A snapshot of Jones County schools showed 62.9% students were White and 0.1% were Asian.

There are 15 schools in Jones County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
