50.2% of students in Perry County are Female in 2021-2022 school year

Of the 1,524 students in Perry County schools, 49.8% were men and 50.2% were women, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

The previous year, the student body across Perry County schools was 50% men and 50% women.

Perry Central High School in New Augusta had the highest number of boy students while Richton Elementary School in Richton had the most girl students.

There are six schools within Perry County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
