What background was most represented in Columbia School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

White students made up 49% of the 1,573 students enrolled in Columbia School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 2.5% decrease from the previous school year.

Columbia High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 465 students.

A snapshot of Columbia School District schools showed 49% of students were white, 46.4% were Black, 1.5% were Hispanic, and 1.5% multiracial.

Columbia School District roughly covers four schools within Marion County and has a main office in Columbia.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
