2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Greene County School District students?

White students made up 78.6% of the 1,659 students enrolled in Greene County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 2.9% decrease from the previous school year.

Greene County High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 478 students.

A snapshot of Greene County School District schools showed 78.6% of students were white and 18.4% Black.

Greene County School District roughly covers five schools within Greene County and has a main office in Leakesville.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
